’s driver on charges of assault and attempt to murder late on Wednesday.

Police have identified the accused as Yathiraj.

Police said, Chandraprabha, a resident of Kudrebettu, had filed a police complaint that a gang led by Yathiraj had on July 3 barged into her house and attacked her father Kanthappa Poojary.

Yathiraj was produced before a court and was send to judicial custody. The other accused in the case are at large.

Police had last month booked Yathiraj and his gang for abusing a Dalit woman and threatening her with murder.

According to the police, Yathiraj and three others had barged into her house in an inebriated state to settle scores with the woman’s sons. As they were not home, the gang assaulted the woman and threatened her with murder besides abusing her.
