The registration fees for various subjects too have seen a steep hike. The process that started in 2004 is continuing as no serious objections have come from any quarters.
Expressing concern over the university authorities hiking the fees each year, Y Bhaskar Shetty, principal, Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty Memorial College, Shirva said the burden of fee hike would necessarily have to be transferred on to the students and the students, especially those studying in rural colleges would be affected badly. Further, it would affect the conventional courses where the number of students enrolling is coming down sharply''.
A meeting of Private College Managements' Association of Mangalore University region held here recently felt a uniform increase of affiliation fees even for courses that are not much in demand like BA would make the colleges suffer. It has suggested forming an expert committee to deal with the issue of fee hike.
