Man shoots self, critical

Mangaluru: In an alleged attempt to commit suicide, a 60-year-old man shot himself at Jattipalla of Boliyamajalu in Sullia on Monday.
The injured is Keshav Prabhu, husband of Sullia TP former vice-president Shanthi Prabhu. Prabhu is said to have shot himself using country-made pistol when he was alone at home. The severely injured Prabhu was shifted to a hospital here for treatment.
Man dies after hit by train
A 52-year-old man died after being hit by a train near Mura railway bridge on the outskirts of Puttur on Monday.
The deceased is Vijaya Gowda, a resident of Balnad. The incident occurred when Gowda, who had arrived to take part in a ritual at Gowda Samaj, was walking by the side of the railway track. tnn
