MANGALURU: Congress candidate Mithun Rai filed his nomination papers to contest
Rai, the president of Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress, made a special mention of minister D K Shivakumar for his guidance and support before filing his nomination papers.
The Congress – JD(S) coalition candidate along with workers from both the parties held a rally from Town Hall to the deputy commissioner’s office prior to the filing of nomination.
At a party workers’ convention held at Town Hall, Rai thanked all senior leaders for proposing his name to contest from Dakshina Kannada seat.
“I am thankful to all senior Congress leaders, who unanimously suggested my name to contest from here. I remember the words of my guru in politics DK Shivakumar, who used to tell me that ‘a leader is the one who makes another leader, not followers,” he said thanking KPCC president Dinesh Gundo Rao, coalition coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda and chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.
District minister UT Khader urged party workers to strive for the victory of Rai.
“Our aim is to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister,” he said adding that the NDA government has failed to fulfil the promises made in their manifesto," Khader said.
