Kudroli temple to celebrate Mangaluru Dasara from Sept 22

Mangaluru: Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple will celebrate Mangaluru Dasara with various spiritual and cultural programmes, along with competitions, from Sept 22 to Oct 2. This time, the grandeur of Mangaluru Dasara will unfold with a variety each day, said Padmaraj R Poojary, treasurer of the temple.He told reporters at the temple on Monday that the Mangaluru Dasara festival will take place under the guidance of the temple's development architect and former Union minister B Janardhan Poojary."The Dasara at Kudroli temple is not just a festival; it is a confluence of spirituality, culture, and social service. All vedic and religious programmes, including the installation of idols like Mahaganapati, Adishakti, Sharada Mata, and Navadurga, along with rituals like Ganahoma and Chandika Yaga, will be conducted, with all preparations in place," he said.Further, he said, various competitions will be organised during Dasara, with a total prize of Rs 1 lakh for the winners. Multi-lingual poetry sessions (in Tulu and Kannada) and a one-day programme for children's Dasara will be arranged. Competitions like Kinnipili (tiger dance competition for children under 4 years and 4-8 years), devotional song contests, painting competitions, and Muddu Sharade contests will take place, he said.Each day will feature performances by three teams, with new grandeur every day of the festival, showcasing folk, Yakshagana, music, literature, and dance forms. Overall, 700-800 artistes from 31 teams will display their talents. Artistes' teams from not only the state but also from other states will participate, making the festival an inter-state cultural bridge. All forms of art and culture will come alive on a single stage, with performances in Bharatanatyam, veena performance, folk arts, Harikatha, Talamaddale, Yakshagana, magic shows, cultural programmes by Alva's Institutions, and SDM colleges adding charm, he said.Temple committee president H Jairaj Somasundar, general secretary B Madhava Suvarna, and trustees were present.Female achievers to be honouredPadmaraj said that during the festival female achievers who work selflessly with service as their ultimate goal will be honoured. Organisations that serve selflessly will also be recognised and honoured for their service, he said.
