Jain principle of ‘ahimsa’ foundation for Independence: Wadiyar
Mangaluru: Mysuru royal family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said the Jain principle of ‘ahimsa’, or non-violence, has been the very foundation of India’s Independence, too. Addressing a religious meet on the fifth day of the Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Shri Bahubali Swami at Venur, in Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada on Monday, he said ‘ahimsa’ has been a well-acclaimed fundamental principle across the nation.“The fundamental principle behind ‘ahimsa’ is the major reason for India winning its Independence. Further, Jainism has also had its influence on Kannada literature. The Kannada literary world is incomplete without Jain literature,” Wadiyar said, adding that the contribution of the Jain community to the nation is immeasurable.
