Mangaluru: A rehabilitation, correction and a research centre 'Jagruthi Soudha' has been built for the victims of drug abuse at the temple town of Dharmasthala.
Its has been built jointly by SDM Medical Trust and Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruti Vedike at a cost of Rs 2 crore. K Vasanth Saliyan, president of Janajagruthi Vedike inaugurated the building on Saturday and D Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari of the kshetra attended the function.
"The task of getting addicts leave their alcohol habit by changing their minds is a very tough task," said Veerendra Heggade.
We will continue this work with determination and dedication through the Vedike, Heggade added.
"The Vedike has so far conducted 911 de-addiction camps in 23 districts and we plan to conduct more such camps in Moodbidri under the leadership of Dr M Mohan Alva, he said.
Vasanth Saliyan felicitated Heggade. M R Rangashyamaiah, president, Karnataka State Temperance Board delivered a speech. Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, L H Manjunath, executive director of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Satish Honnavalli, president of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruthi Vedike and others were present.
