Mangaluru: While the correspondent of a college, arrested for allegedly writing defamatory letters and pasting posters on public walls with intent to tarnish the reputation and outrage the modesty a 58-year-old woman assistant professor, got bail on Friday, the police custody of the other two accused has been extended by two days.
The city police had arrested three persons in the case. They are Prakash Shenoy,44, college correspondent, from
Belthangady
taluk, Pradeep Poojary,36, economics lecturer, from Bantwal, and Taranath B S Shetty,32, physical director, from Hebri.
The accused had allegedly pasted the victim’s contact number and email address on the walls in public toilets near bus stands in
Sullia
,
Subrahmanya
, Sampaje, Madikeri, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere,
Balehonnur
, NR Pura and
Shivamogga
, claiming she was a commercial sex worker. After this, the victim had started receiving calls soliciting sexual favours from unknown numbers.
