MANGALORE: Inspired by people making videos about their cities and showcasing how they enjoyed living there, based on Pharell Williams 'Happy' song, Udupi-based Robosoft Technologies engineers have their own home grown version of Happy''.
The peppy 208 sec video titled 'Happy Udupi' has gone viral on the video sharing website YouTube. Ever since it was posted six days back on YouTube, the video clip has got over 17,400 views.
It took 100 hours of shoot, sifting through 350 clips for 50 hours by Sumukh Thej, Quality Control Engineer, Nishchith CP and Deekshith NM, both software engineers to make the final video happen.
We were sipping coffee in the Robosoft cafeteria and we came across the Pharell Williams 'Happy' song. Then we decided to make a video about our beloved Udupi. We realized that we didn't have professional camera with us, but our Robosoft buddies Kiran, Ramchandra and Raviprakash lent us their camera and accessories for the entire shooting period Special thanks goes to them and Samhan for helping us edit the video,'' say the trio.
They shot footage for the video only during weekends and it took them around two months. We started by asking people if they were interested in joining the shoot - then we decided the aspects and places to be covered. It took around four weekends for the shoot and two weekends for sorting and editing,'' said Sumukh.
What was the hardest part of the video? Making people take part was the hardest of all! We approached beautiful girls in Robosoft. While a few rejected our offer, some were busy during weekends hence they couldn't make it. We took our camera and started wandering around Udupi, finding people to participate in the video...few agreed and few laughed at us,'' they said. They had around 350 clips, but they were able to use only 50 to 80. Since most of them were random people and they had to do it spontaneously, we had lot of retakes,'' observes Nishchith CP.
A gentleman inside a bus was very co-operative, he agreed as soon as we asked him, so did an auto driver,'' they said.
Shooting kids was tough as it was difficult to get the perfect shot, says Deekshith. The video was shot around Udupi, Kundapur, Manipal, Krishana Mutt, Bengre, Malpe, Hanging Bridge, End point and Tiger circle.
