Happy Streets: M’luru wakes up to a lively morning filled with fun and activities

Mangaluru: Kadri Park Road on Sunday was transformed into a lively and energetic hub as The Times of India's first-ever Happy Streets event in Mangaluru brought the community together for a morning of fun, fitness, and connection. What is usually a quiet Sunday morning stroll at Kadri Park turned into an exciting celebration, buzzing with activities for all ages.The event kicked off with an invigorating early morning stretch session by Yoga House Mangaluru, led by Deepak V Naik and Shwetha V Naik, setting a relaxed and refreshing tone. A soothing meditation followed, allowing participants to centre themselves. But just as the crowd settled into a sense of calm, the energy skyrocketed with a high-intensity fitness dance session. Sumanth Roche of The S Studio Mangaluru took the stage with an electrifying Zumba performance, getting the crowd moving and filling the atmosphere with infectious enthusiasm.Adding a fun and unique twist, the Bhima Mannequin Challenge kept participants engaged, while the stage came alive with a mesmerising performance by nine young talents through a hula hoop act led by Jagannath, proprietor of Revelation Studio Inc, Surathkal, which left the audience in awe.The event was not just about fitness—it was about empowerment too. Experts from Achman Skills of Life introduced the crowd to Krav Maga, an Israeli self-defence system. Their demonstration, led by Manish Acharya, focused on equipping women with practical strategies to escape situations like eve-teasing. Meanwhile, members of the Institute of Karate and Martial Arts, Mangaluru, showcased impressive skills, with twins Anshi NM and Avni NM stealing the show with their precision and agility.Adding to the interactive experience, Decathlon created an engaging sports zone where participants enjoyed games of carrom and shuttle badminton. Children delighted in a pottery-making session led by Aron D'Souza from Clay Garden. Vijay M, coach of Kudla's Roller Skating and Anagha Skating Academy, guided seven children—including three-year-old Thiya—to the joy of skating. "We want to show that skating is not as tough as it looks," he shared.The artistic side of the event was equally captivating. Children eagerly picked up brushes at a painting stall set up by artist Anudeep Karkera, who displayed stunning charcoal sketches and acrylic paintings.From adrenaline-pumping workouts to artistic explorations, Happy Streets was a celebration of community, creativity, and well-being. Emcee Mithesh Kulal kept the energy high throughout the event, ensuring there was never a dull moment from its lively start at 7.30am to its conclusion at 10am, when Santhosh was announced as the winner of the Bhima-Lucky draw and took home a gold coin. MG Motor India also displayed their electric cars MG Comet and MG Windsor.
