Rao, along with senior advocate B K Dhananjaya Rao and other donors from Rotary Club Indiranagar, Bengaluru, and Rotary Club, Belthangady, have contributed nearly Rs 8.5 lakh towards the renovation of the school. “The work is under progress,” said B K Dhananjaya Rao.
Dhananjaya added that the school has educated many students, and when the school teachers had said about its dilapidated condition, he decided to help. “We are planning to complete the works by the second week of March, ” he said.
Lucy Leena Moras, headmistress (in-charge), said that two years ago, it was former headmistress Gertrude D’Souza, who explained to late Parameshwar Rao’s family about the need to renovate the school. Considering her request, Rao’s family and others came forward to take up the works. The school’s roof was repaired three years ago with help of MLA LAD funds. Currently, works on laying the tiled floor, new washrooms, painting, auditorium and office renovation are in progress.
Rao’s family also distributes annual scholarships to a student from each class, who have excelled in academics.
