Ganja worth about Rs 4 lakh seized, 1 held

Personnel of Coastal Security Police (CSP) on a tip off arrested a person from Neereshwalya village of old port at Bunder here and recovered 13.840-kgs of ganja valued at Rs 3.46-lakh from his possession.

MANGALORE: Personnel of Coastal Security Police (CSP) on a tip off arrested a person from Neereshwalya village of old port at Bunder here and recovered 13.840-kgs of ganja valued at Rs 3.46-lakh from his possession. Police seized a Maruti Swift car valued at Rs 4 lakh, and two mobile phones from the accused P Ibrahim, 38, resident of Ichlampady village in Kasargod district.

The total value of contraband and items seized is Rs 7.48-lakh. CSP personnel led by CSP Police Inspector Y Gangi Reddy said the accused had brought the ganja to be sold to a certain Altaf at Bunder and had procured the ganja from Chintalpalli Basalbandhu Narsipatna in Andhra Pradesh. Police are on the look out for Riyaz, his accomplice, who fled the scene and is absconding.
