Foundation, hosp bring smiles to paediatric cancer patients
Udupi: The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Bengaluru chapter, in collaboration with the department of paediatric oncology at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal, brightened the lives of children undergoing cancer treatment by fulfilling their heartfelt wishes. This special initiative aimed to bring smiles to the faces of young patients and their families, providing a moment of joy amidst their challenging journey.The Make-A-Wish Foundation is dedicated to granting wishes to seriously ill children. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, the foundation operates through 58 chapters across the United States and has expanded its reach to over 50 countries through international affiliates.A star-studded gathering marked the occasion on Tuesday, with notable personalities gracing the event. Actor and comedian Gilli Nata (Nataraj) and actor Karthik Attavar, from Kannada and Tulu cinema, were the chief guests.As part of the event, 50 children undergoing treatment at the hospital were presented with gifts of their choice costing more than Rs 7 lakh, fulfilling wishes that brought them moments of happiness. During the programme, Gilli Nata entertained the young patients, spreading laughter and joy. His light-hearted interaction with the children lifted their spirits, making the event even more memorable.Actor Karthik Attavar also expressed his heartfelt support, sharing words of encouragement with the children and their families, reminding them of the strength and resilience they possess in their fight against cancer.
