Mangaluru: Mahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Shri Bahubali Swami with 216 kalashas was offered by puja hosts M Ananth Kumar brothers and sisters and K Hemaraj Belli Beedu on the sixth day of the festival on Tuesday.Janmabhisheka kalyana of Sri Shanthinatha Swami Tirthankara was held. On the occasion, rituals were held in the presence of Swastishree Bhattaraka Charukeerthi Panditacharyavarya Mahaswamiji of Moodbidri Jain Mutt, Hemavathi V Heggade of Sri Kshetra Dharmastala, and Dr Padmaprasad Ajila, Aladangady, of Ajila dynasty, who is the executive president of Shri Digambara Jaina Theertha Kshetra Samithi.At a religious meeting held as part of Mahamastakabhisheka, former Union minister M Veerappa Moily delivered a talk. He said that life will be meaningful if one follows the path of truth and ahimsa.“Proper understanding of ancient history, culture and civilisation will help one lead a life of self-esteem and humanity without any ill wills. Following the principles of Lord Bahubali, we can lead a life of honesty filled with humanity. Reading Gommatesha-thudi, a religious hymn in praise to Bahubali composed by Nemichandra, will soothe our minds. Further, it will enhance humanitarian values within us. I have turned a vegetarian because of the influence of Jain principles. I’m engaged in research on religious literature,” he said, and called upon the young generation to inculcate the habit of reading religious texts.Recalling his early life in Moodbidri, Moily said he is proud to be born in Jain Kashi of Karnataka. “The influence of the Jain community, their lifestyle, love and leadership qualities have helped me shape myself as a leader,” he added.Parama Pujya Yugala Munishri 108 Amoghakeerthi Muni Maharaj and 108 Amarakeerthi Munimaharaj delivered blessings.Today’s ritualsMahamastakabhisheka of Bhagavan Shri Bahubali Swami with 216 kalashas, from 7pm; Puja hosts Rohini, Bhavanthabettu and family. Nithya vidhi sahitha yaga mandala aaradhana Vidhana, from 8am; rajyabhisheka, rajyabhara, from 10.30am; vairagya poorvaka deeksha vidhi, keshalochana vidhi, parinishkramana kalyana, agrodaka procession, from 4.05pm.
