Heavy rain causes flash flood in Hebri

Udupi: Heavy rain lashed Mudradi and parts of Hebri in Udupi, causing extensive damage on Sunday. Houses were inundated following the rain at Hosakambla, Kantarabail, and Kelakila in Mudradi. Two cars and several bikes were washed away in the flood. There was heavy rain resembling a cloudburst at Kabbinale Betta, following which water started gushing.
Several acres of paddy, rubber, arecanut, coconut, and banana plantations were inundated following the rain at Bammagundi. According to locals, heavy rain lashed the area for nearly three hours. More than 25 electricity poles were damaged, disrupting the power supply in the area. Upon noticing a sudden increase in water at the waterfalls in Kabbinale, tourists ran for safety. Fire and emergency service personnel were on their toes to carry out rescue operations.
Several parts of the Dakshina Kannada also received heavy rainfall on Sunday evening.
