Five-day Ganesha fest from Sept 19

Mangaluru: Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshostava Samiti, Sanghaniketan here, which has been celebrating Ganeshostava for over 75 years, has planned a five-day event this festive season. The event, complete with cultural and religious programmes, will be held in association with Keshava Smrithi Samvardhana Samithi. It will commence on September 19 and end on September 23, said M Satish Prabhu, vice-president of the Samiti. Prabhu said the celebrations will be inaugurated by Vishal Hegde, pro-chancellor, Nitte (deemed-to-be university) on September 19. The following day, children from Chethana Balavikasa Centre will present a cultural show, which will be presided over by Srinath Hebbar of Land Trades Builders and Developers. Prabhu also said there will be bhajan singing on all five days during the celebrations from various city-based troupes. In preparation for the celebrations, the samiti will conduct various competitions from September 9. It includes ‘Bhagavad Gita’ chanting, devotional song singing, and other events.
