Exam postponed due to Ramzan

As per a GO dated July 5, Ramzan holiday has been declared on July 7. In this context, all exams of correspondence course of Mangalore University scheduled for this day are postponed.

MANGALURU: As per a GO dated July 5, Ramzan holiday has been declared on July 7. In this context, all exams of correspondence course of Mangalore University scheduled for this day are postponed. While BA, BCom and BBM will be held on July 13, PG exams will be held on July 8 as per the earlier mentioned timings. The revised time table is uploaded on the university website.

Audio release: The audio release of the new Tulu movie Dombarata under the banner of Brahmavar Movies was held on June 6 at Town Hall. The film is produced by Ranjith Suvarna. The film has five songs sung by well-known singers.
Medical camp: Department of Kayachikitsa, Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences, organised a free medical camp for diabetes patients. Dr Sathyanarayana B, principal inaugurated the programme. Doctors Shripathy Acharya, Seetharam Mithanthaya, Hariprasad Shetty, Ajith K S, Ravishankar Shenoy, Sija, Vishnumohan and Dr Deepali were the resource persons.
Grant released: Kishore Alva, executive director, Adani Udupi Power Corporation Limited, has thanked the Udupi district administration for releasing the Adani UPCL grant to 302 fishermen families, recently. Nadoja G Shankar, social worker and managing trustee of G Shankar Family Trust, has expressed his happiness for fulfilling his wish as desired. It may be recalled that Lanco had refused to make the payment as the National Institute of Oceanography and Department of Fisheries had reported that there is no adverse impact on marine life and the coastal environment. However, since Adani was adhered to meet all the commitments of UPCL for the sole reason to win the confidence of local populace, it honoured the release of grant to the fishermen family. Adani UPCL has taken this case as a CSR activity.
Memorial programme: In memorial of death anniversary of Kedige Bhaskar Rao, Kedige Prathisthana will organise Bhaskar memorial programme on July 9, at Ravindra Kala Bhavan. M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's Education Foundation will be the chief guest. Various cultural programmes will be held on the occasion.
New team: Vijayalaxmi B Shetty has been selected as the president of Mangaluru taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishath. S Padmanabha Bhat Yekkaru and Devaki Achuta have been selected as honorary secretaries and Krishnamurthy P as treasurer. Raghu Idkidu has been nominated as Scheduled Caste representative and Aruna Kumari Nagaraj as women representative.

School facilities: Students' Federation of India (SFI) has urged district of administration of Dakshina Kannada not to show disparity in providing basic facilities to government-run schools. Charan Shetty, secretary of SFI alleged that private schools in district are mushrooming and they are allegedly demanding huge donations from parents and officials have not able to control the menace. He added that many schools function without having regular staff. He demanded that basic necessities like sports accessories, washrooms, classrooms and other facilities to be provided at government schools.
Training workshop: Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisarga Dhama in association with Karnataka State Tribal Research Institute, Mysuru had organised a training workshop on preparing artefacts from bamboo on July 2. Institute director T T Basavanagowda participated and Nisarga Dhama executive director H Jayaprakash Bhandary inaugurated. The training will conclude on July 17.
College programme: A welcome programme to extend cordial welcome to first degree students was held at St Philomena College Puttur on July 2. College correspondent Rev Fr Alfred J Pinto inaugurated the event and in his presidential address said, "Knowledge should be transformed into wisdom. Educating the mind without educating the heart is of no use." Principal Leo Noronha presented the code of conduct of the college.
