DK, B’luru swimmers shine at Karnataka State Games 2025
Mangaluru: Swimmers from Dakshina Kannada and Bengaluru presented their best performances in swimming events held during Day 5 of the Karnataka State Games 2025 on Tuesday. The event is organised by the department of youth empowerment and sports, Karnataka Olympic Association, alongside the district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.Chinthan S Shetty and Pradhi Clare Pinto won gold in the 200m freestyle for men and women, respectively. SR Rachana Rao won gold in the 100m breaststroke for women, and Namratha Shetty bagged gold in the 1,500m freestyle for women. Surya Jhoyappa Odiyanda Rajesh from Bengaluru South won gold in the 100m breaststroke for men. Dhruva B from Bengaluru won gold in the 1,500m freestyle for men. Harshavardhan from Bengaluru won gold in the 200m butterfly for men. Dhyaan M and Tanmanyi Dharmesh from Bengaluru won gold in the 50m backstroke for men and women, respectively.In athletics, Guru Prasad GC from Mysuru won gold in the men's 200m category. Kamalakannan of Bengaluru Urban won gold in the 800m for men. Zafarkhan Sarwar from Belagavi won gold in the long jump for men, while Muhammed Saqlain Ahmed from Mysuru won gold in the discus throw for men. Rathod Lokesh Damu from Yadgir won gold in the 110m hurdles for men, while Jyothika from Bengaluru won gold in the 200m for women, and Vijayakumari GK from Bengaluru won gold in the 800m for women.Pavithra G from Udupi (long jump), Ambika V from Mysuru (shot put), Shravya from Udupi (javelin throw), Isha Elizabeth Renjith from Bengaluru (100m hurdles), Vijay Sanjay Savaratkar from Belagavi (10,000m), and Rahul Ashok Naik from Uttara Kannada (pole vault) won gold medals.The gold medal winners in taekwondo are Srikanth G from Bengaluru (under 45 kg for men), Ankitha S from Bengaluru (under 42 kg for women), Kavya Shree M (under 46 kg for women), Shreyas J (under 63 kg for men), Saanvi Sri C (under 53 kg for women), Nagachaithanya S (under 54 kg for men), Maya Ann D'Souza (under 62 kg for women), Shruti A Gond (under 73 kg for women), Sharukhahamad I Shaikh (under 74 kg for men), and Pratik Arjun Gonde (under 87 kg for men).The winners in judo are Vishnu S Gorav from Belagavi (below 60 kg for men), Aishwarya B from Bengaluru (below 48 kg for women), Dhareppa Mallappa Thakkannavar from Bengaluru (below 66 kg for men), Sarita Tanaba Kesarekar from Belagavi (below 52 kg for women), Manjunatha Mahadevappa Nagoora from Davanagere (below 73 kg for men), and Mahammad Yaqub Khan from Bengaluru (below 81 kg for men).
