District cops get Shabeer's custody

MANGALORE: The district police, after a gap of five days, have managed to get Shabeer alias Shabeer Moulvi, into their custody for three days from 11 am on March 6 till 11 am on March 9.
Shabeer, arrested by the Maharashtra ATS for his alleged links with terrorist groups and involvement in terrorist activities and lodged in Yerawada Jail in Pune was brought by the local police to the district jail here late on Saturday.
Police said they would take Shabeer into their custody from the district jail as specified by the court and interrogate his alleged links to members of Indian Mujahideen including mastermind of the terrorist ground Riyaz Bhatkal. Local police following a trail of terror links had nabbed six persons at Mukkacherri near Ullal and Pandeshwar area of the city in October last. They subsequently arrested two more accused in Koppa in Chikmagalur.
