Dead whale washed ashore at Maravanthe

Udupi: A short-finned pilot whale was reportedly washed ashore at the Trasi-Maravanthe beach on Wednesday.

Kundapur DCF Ashish Reddy said officers visited the spot and a postmortem was conducted. It is suspected that the whale may have died about a month ago and was washed ashore on Wednesday. The postmortem report will throw light on the cause of death, he said.

Peacock rescued: An injured peacock was rescued from the compound of a house near the Indrali railway godown in Udupi on Wednesday. After being treated by veterinarians in Manipal, the bird was shifted to the tree park, said deputy range forest officer Suresh Ganiga.
