Dakshina Kannada district minister Kota Shrinivas Poojary tests Covid-19 positive

MANGALURU: Minister of backward class welfare and muzrai Kota Shrinivas Poojari announced on twitter that he has been tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.
The minister tweeted from @KotasBJP that since was tested positive for Covid-19 he will be available only on mobile phone. "Those who were in touch with me in the past two days should undergo tests for Covid-19," he tweeted.

In fact Poojari also had participated in the Dharmanemotsava held at Kelagina Kunjadi Tharavadu Mane, Kadaba taluk, the ancestral house of BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel.The festival held on April 8 and 9 had witnessed participation of thousands of devotees from various parts of the state. BJP national general secretary Arun Singh, rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa, Udupi - Chikkamagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje and several senior leaders had participated in the festival.

Poojari was seen sitting between Eshwarappa and Karandlaje during the Dharmanemotsava in a picture that went viral after the festival. Poojari also had accompanied Eshwarappa in a press meet held at a Hotel in the city on Wednesday.
DHO Dr Kishore Kumar M told TOI that the district surveillance officer has been asked to commence the contact tracing. "We have received the information that the minister has tested positive for Covid-19. We will initiate the contact tracing process immediately," he added.
