Congress seeks ₹25 lakh ex-gratia to kin of slain Dalit
Mangaluru: Pushpa Amarnath, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress, said the government should grant an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Dinesh from Dharmastala, who was recently murdered. Dinesh, 40, a Dalit and the son of Dharanappa Naik, was allegedly assaulted on February 24 by D Krishan alias Kitta, a BJP functionary, and died the next day.

Pushpa told reporters here on Tuesday that if the government does not sanction ex-gratia, the party will launch a protest.
“The BJP government has approved Rs 25 lakh in compensation for the family of Harsha, a 23-year-old Bajrang Dal activist who was murdered in Shivamogga. However, only Rs 8 lakh has been approved for Dinesh's kin. Why is there such a disparity in death as well? Dinesh's family, which includes his wife, mother, and two children, has no idea what the future holds for them,” Pushpa Amarnath said.
