MANGALURU: BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the Congress party in Karnataka has become a victim of dual leadership.
“In Karnataka, the two leaders are fighting. In Rajasthan, two leaders are fighting and similarly, two are fighting in Chhattisgarh (for chief minsiter’s post). They should look into their own ‘house’ before levelling allegations against the BJP,” Trivedi told reporters here on Friday.

Lashing out at KPCC president DK Shivakumar and former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Trivedi said that the Congress leaders have been making empty promises through their party manifesto. “They promised unemployment allowance before the election in Rajasthan, but it has not been given yet. Even during Chhattisgarh assembly election, they had promised to waive farm loans but the farmers are yet to get relief from the loans. The Congress has credibility crisis in Indian politics while the BJP is known for its element of credibility,” he said.
On BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel’s recent advice that party leaders should focus on ‘love jihad’ more rather than concentrating on development, Trivedi said that it was former Kerala chief minister VS Achuthanandan who coined the phrase ‘love jihad’ and not the RSS.
To a query on senior BJP leader KS Eshwarappa’s controversial remarks on ‘azaan’, Trivedi said as far as the use of loudspeakers is concerned, several high courts of the country have ruled against it and even in Saudi Arabia, it is not allowed.
Replying to a question on the next chief minister candidate, he said that right now, Basavaraj Bommai is working efficiently and it is the parliamentary board that takes a final call on the next chief ministerial candidate. He also lauded former chief minister BS Yediyurappa and said the top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have utmost respect for the leader.

On the Padma awards given to farmer Amai Mahalinga Naik, educationist Harekala Hajabba and environmentalist Tulsi Gowda, Trivedi said that during the Congress regime, only those five star environmental activists sitting in AC rooms, mostly the left-leaning ones, used to get the Padma awards.
On the conviction of Rahul Gandhi in a 2019 criminal defamation case, Trivedi said, “You have portrayed the entire community as corrupt. Earlier, during the 2019 election, he had to tender an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court for misappropriating the judgement on the Rafale issue. He is still facing proceedings in the court for wrongly misinterpreting the facts on the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. He has been facing several such cases,” he said.
