MANGALURU: Accusing the government of following discriminatory policy in disbursing compensation for the families of slain Masood from Bellare and Mahammed Fazil from Surathkal, the Daksina Kananda District Congress Committee (DCC) Minority Cell staged a silent protest in front of Kudmal Ranga Rao Town Hall in Mangaluru on Tuesday.

Masood’s mother Saramma and Fazil’s father Umar participated in the protest.

Dakshina Kannada DCC Minority Cell president Shahul Hameed said chief minister Basavaraj Bommai had visited the family of slain BJP worker Praveen Nettaru and failed to visit the kin of Masood.

The CM had promised to visit the houses of Fazil and Masood. However, he has failed to visit them so far. Bommai had only issued a statement that Fazil was not murdered for religious reasons. Both the CM and home minister should reveal the motive behind the murder. The government should at least announce compensation for the kin of Masood and Fazil, he demanded.
