Cleaning drive on at breeding sites to check dengue spread
Mangaluru: About 480 suspected dengue cases have been reported as on Wednesday, with an average of 40 cases per day in the district. About 30 cases have been confirmed through the Elisa test. On Wednesday 32 people were admitted in Dakshina Kannada.
DC S Sasikanth Senthil told TOI that at least five areas have been sanitised so far, in an operation that was launched from Sunday, and sanitisation of more areas will continue, based on priority.

Mangaluru city has been divided into grids based on the number of cases reported. “There has been a significant reduction in larva source in the areas that have been sanitised. In a week’s time, we are expecting to see a drop in the number of dengue cases,” he said.
City corporation officials continued their source reduction drive by clearing breeding spots of mosquitoes, and collected a fine of Rs 65,000 from those who have failed to take preventive measures, on Wednesday. Officials have been visiting apartments, houses, commercial buildings and shops as part of this exercise.
