told TOI that at least five areas have been sanitised so far, in an operation that was launched from Sunday, and sanitisation of more areas will continue, based on priority. Mangaluru city has been divided into grids based on the number of cases reported. “There has been a significant reduction in larva source in the areas that have been sanitised. In a week’s time, we are expecting to see a drop in the number of dengue cases,” he said.

by clearing breeding spots of mosquitoes, and collected a fine of Rs 65,000 from those who have failed to take preventive measures, on Wednesday. Officials have been visiting apartments, houses, commercial buildings and shops as part of this exercise.
