MANGALORE: One more person has been arrested pertaining to the murder of a person involved in chit fund business at Gorigudde here on September 22. With this arrest the number of arrests in this case has gone up to five.
The arrested is Deekshit Poojary, 25, a resident of Maroli. He was arrested at Derebail Konchady on Sunday night and handed over to Mangalore Rural police station.
The victim was Durgaprasad Shetty, 27 from Mijaru near Moodabidri.
Four persons have already been arrested by City Police in connection with the murder a few days back. They were Santosh Shettigar, 38, resident of Jappinamogaru, Sandesh Kotian, 21, from Yekkuru, Pavan Shetty, 20, from Shakthi Nagar and Harshith Shetty, 21 from Maroli. Police said that financial matters were behind this murder and they were investigating possibility of others involved in this act.
Deekshit is said to be an associate of underworld criminal Vikky Shetty and wanted in businessman Vijayendra Bhat shoot out case; kidnap of a lawyer identified as Prakash and murder of John Pinto at Mannagudda. There are also cases of possessing arms illegally and was arrested by CCB police. He was out on bail in September this year and within a week hatched a plot to murder Durgaprasad Shetty.
