MANGALORE: Ending the dispute regarding management of Masjid Zeenath Baksh and Idgah Juma Masjid, Bunder, G Aboobakkar has resigned from the chairman post and handed over the charge to the newly-appointed adhoc committee of the masjid.
A press release from Abdulla Kunhi, president of the adhoc committee, said the dispute was amicably settled with the intervention of C M Abdul Musliyar, Kazi of Mangalore, recently.
According to the agreement between the adhoc committee and the former committee, all allegations made against the committee headed by Aboobakkar will be withdrawn as it is found false and baseless and all activities of the Masjid shall continue under Samastha Kerala Jamlyyathul Ulama Mushavara and there shall not be any Kazi committee. The agreement also decided to withdraw all cases pending in the high court against each other. It was also decided that Aboobakkar should hand over charge to the adhoc committee, appointed by Karnataka State Board of Wakf.
The release stated that accordingly, Aboobakkar has resigned and handed over the keys, books, minutes book and cheque books to Kunhi in the presence of Kazi.
The adhoc committee had filed a complaint against superseded former chairman G Abubakar for trespassing into the masjid office premises on April 8, alleging that he was trying to create a feeling in the minds of the public that he continued to be the chairman of the masjid.
Kunhi, earlier had told the media that the earlier committee was superseded based on a petition filed by DK Sunni Muslim Kriya Samithi, in the high court regarding unlawful activities of the trustees of Masjid and Idgah Juma Masjid, Bunder, headed by its chairman G Abubakar and other members.
