Cattle thief arrested

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City police have arrested a person for cow theft in Thenkayedapadavu, here on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Mohammed Areef, a resident of Thodar in Mangaluru. Police said based on the complaint of Satish Naik filed at Bajpe police station, who said an unidentified person arrived in a red colour hatchback and took away his two cows which were in a cowshed, a case was registered in January 2018.
Police, who investigated the case, arrested him near Badagedapadavu.They added that the arrested has past criminal antecedents with cases booked in Somwarpet, Shanivarasanthe, Kushalanagara, Gokarna and other places. He is booked in 19 cases ranging from cattle theft, assault on police, obstruction of duty, attempt to murder and others.
