Case against Khader will take its own legal course: Ravi
MANGALURU: Minister for Kannada and culture and tourism C T Ravi on Thursday said that state government will allow the law to take its own course about sedition case registered against former minister
Asserting that he stands by every single word uttered in reaction to a query that media asked him about Khader’s reported statement that the state could burn if the government went ahead in implemented Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens’ here, Ravi told reporters that Khader’s statement at a public protest rally hwas the cue that stoked violence in the city. "I have seen clippings of Khader’s statement on WhatsApp," Ravi said.
There is a difference between giving a ‘warning’ to making an outright ‘provocative’ statement, Ravi said considering direction that chief minister BS Yediyurappa gave to all his ministerial colleagues following violence in the city. Extending his argument further, Ravi said, "
Ravi also urged the government to rethink a move by the previous government to withdraw en masse cases registered against PFI/SDPI activists. “When a government withdraws case against habitual offenders, it only demoralises the police,” Ravi said, adding that there is difference between withdrawing cases against such hardcore offenders to withdrawing cases against people involved in people’s movement where cases are booked ‘politically.’
