Bleeding disorder clinic for women and girls opened
Udupi: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, in collaboration with the Haemophilia Society – Manipal Chapter, has launched a dedicated Women and Girls' Bleeding Disorder Clinic here to improve care for individuals with haemophilia and related bleeding conditions.
The inauguration coincided with World Haemophilia Day on Thursday and its global theme, "Access for All: Women and Girls Bleed Too," highlighting the urgent need for inclusive healthcare for women and girls affected by these disorders.
Dr Jyothsna, district RCH officer, Udupi, inaugurated the clinic, emphasising the importance of accessible, specialised care and its impact on patient outcomes. The clinic will operate every second Saturday of the month and will be staffed by female doctors.
Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, acknowledged the critical role of ASHA workers in the early identification and referral of bleeding disorder cases within the community.
In addition to the clinic launch, a workshop on bleeding disorders was held for ASHA workers from Udupi district. This workshop, featuring expert sessions led by Dr Archana MV, Dr Pavitra DS, Dr Kavisha Bhat, Dr Anjalin D'Souza and Dr Swathi PM, aimed to enhance early detection and referral of bleeding disorders at the community level.
