BJP workers condemn suspension of MLA Shetty
Mangaluru: The BJP Mangaluru City North Committee is gearing up to hold a protest against the suspension of MLA Y Bharath Shetty. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, BJP leaders said that Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty was suspended for raising issues concerning the people.
BJP Mangaluru North unit president Rajesh Kottari stated that the suspension of MLA Shetty by Karnataka assembly speaker UT Khader from the legislative assembly is condemnable. Kottari demanded that the suspension of Shetty be immediately revoked. He warned that BJP workers from the Mangaluru City North assembly constituency would stage an intense protest if the suspension of the MLA was not revoked.
BJP Dakshina Kannada unit vice-president Thilak Raj Krishnapura alleged that the speaker took this action at the behest of the Congress govt. He recalled that Congress MLAs previously disrespected the speaker by pulling his chair. He also accused the speaker of taking such action without checking its legality. "He is misusing his power to silence the voice of the people's representative," Thilak Raj said. BJP leaders Pooja Prashanth Pai, Bharathraj Krishnapura, Ashith Nonda, Sandeep Pachchanadi and Randeep Kanchan were present.
