MANGALURU: Art Kanara, The Artists Group, N G Pavanje Chair in Fine Arts, Mangalore University have jointly organized ‘Mungaru – Splash of Colours’ and ‘Art Reach – Special Lecture and Interactive Session’ at S Cube Art Gallery, Mannagudda here on July 23. K Byrappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University will inaugurate the twin events. The exhibition will continue to be open for public viewing from 10.30am to 8pm up to July 30.
Rajendra Kedige, convener, S Cuber Art Gallery said monsoon is the season that defines coastal region. The four months between June and September is literally a rebirth for this region with vegetation and greenery blooming everywhere with torrential rains feeding the lifeline of the region. “Hence we have decided to celebrate this season with Mungaru, special exhibition of works of 12 artists of this region. Monsoon will be the theme of the exhibition,” he said.
Inauguration of Mungaru will be followed by Art Reach – a live talk and interactive session with Suresh Jayaram, renowned art historian and founder of ‘1, Shanthi Road Studio’, Bengaluru. Vasanth Kumar Perla, assistant station director, AIR, Mangaluru will deliver keynote address and moderate the programme. Panelists for discussion are P S Puchithaya, artist, K S Venu Vinod, journalist, N S Pattar, art teacher, and Purushotham Adve, head of artists’ body.
Exhibition will feature works of art of 12 participating artists - Harish Kodialbail, Jeevan Salian, Permude Mohan Kumar, Rajendra Kedige, Ramakrishna Nayak, Ravi M R Wagle, Reshma Shetty, Santhosh Andrade, Sharath Palimar, Syed Asif Ali, Venky Palimar and Vishvas M Bhat.
