MANGALURU: The officials from the department of public instruction and district administration are leaving no stone unturned to ensure smooth conduct of SSLC exams in Dakshina Kannada district. The exams will start on March 31 and conclude on April 15.
As part of it, the officials are focusing on ensuring robust arrangements, including ample supply of water and power, at the 98 designated exam centres. Several meetings were held in this regard and also the district administration wrote letters to MESCOM, requesting uniterrupted power supply during the exam period.
Speaking to TOI, DR Naik, DDPI, Dakshina Kannada said that it is true that there is water scarcity on the campuses this summer. “In a meeting held with Zilla panchayat CEO Kumar on Saturday, the issues were discussed and he was asked to ensure ample supply of water to all centres on the exam days,” he said.
At the meeting, the officials concerned were instructed to make sure that the examination halls have potable drinking water and a water boy to distribute water to candidates.
Uninterrupted water supplyNaik shared that the deputy commissioner’s office has already written a letter to MESCOM requesting measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the exam halls. “CCTVs have been installed in and around the centres to ensure that the exams are conducted in a smooth and fair manner,” he said, adding that another meeting with the deputy commissioner will be held within a few days.
HR Eshwara, BEO, South, which has the second highest exam centres, said that they didn’t receive any complaint regarding water scarcity so far. “We have already made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exams.
A radio programme on SSLC examination was also recently held,” he said. As many as 29,572 candidates, including 28,705 fresh candidates, from the district are all set to appear for the examination.
