MOODBIDRI: Kannada litterateurs will deliberate on Kannada language, literature and culture at the three-day Alva’s Nudisiri, the global Kannada conference, which begins at Rathnakara Varni Vediki here on Friday.
While writer M M Kalburgi will preside over the meet, writer Baragur Ramachandrappa will inaugurate the event at 10am. Leading Kannada writers and poets H S Raghavendra Rao, D S Naghabhushana, S G Siddaramaiah, Lakshmipathi Kolara, L Hanumanthaiah, Vasudendra, Abdul Rasheed, Banjagere Jayaprakash, Ashadevi and Kavitha Rai will air their views on various issues of Kannada at the Nudisiri.
Ten eminent Kannadigas, namely Nissar Ahmed, Chandrashekhar Patil, M V Kamath, C N Ramachandran, Srinath, B K Sumithra, Pandavapura Ankegowda, B T Lalitha Naik, Chidambararao Jambe and Machar Gopal Naik will be honoured with the ‘Nudisiri Prashasthi’ on Sunday. They will be presented with a shawl, a citation and Rs 10,000.
A visitor to the Nudisiri will be treated to various cultural activities of Dakshina Kannada.
For bookworms, there will be over 50 book stalls that sell Kannada works. Jnanpith awardee Chandrasekhara Kambar will be felicitated on the occasion. According to M Mohan Alva, chairman, Reception Committee, nearly 15,000 Kannada enthusiasts including students from all over Karnataka will take part in the conference.
