Actor Naveen D Padil to be 'Swachhata' ambassador for Namma Kudla

Swachhata ambassador

. This forms an important part that the civic body has to undertake even as its readies for the Swachh Survekshan that the ministry of urban development is undertaking through its Swachh Bharat Mission. The council of the city corporation that met under Mayor Kavitha Sanil’s stewardship unanimously approved the agenda.

Incidentally the Swachh Survekshan 2018 will be carried out in 4041 cities and towns across India under the mission, including 277 cities and towns in Karnataka. The central survey team appointed by the ministry will be in this coastal city for a month from January 4, 2018 for an on the spot survey of various parameters included under the cleanliness survey that is used to determine the most clean city in the country, an office note appended to the agenda stated.

The survey team will interact with MCC officials, general public and other stakeholders including voluntary and service organisations. Under the handbook released by the ministry for Swachh Survekshan 2018, the appointment of a Swachhata ambassador is a must and such person selected has to play a pivotal role in spreading the message on various programmes about cleanliness campaign and cleanliness per se to stakeholders including the common person.

Kavitha told TOI that the choice of Naveen for this vital role was based on his overall popularity and mass acceptability as an actor. “Naveen Padil has a mass following for his role in Tulu theatre and film industry,” she said, adding it makes sense to pitch in a local artist rather than avail the service of any other leading name who will help the city corporation spread the same message. “Naveen has agreed to be our brand ambassador for cleanliness,” the mayor added.
