Rohan said that AAP has requested the general public to contact their respected corporators and urge them to support the cause and be a part of the ward committee when formed. This, Rohan said, is the only way to ensure that the general public have a greater say.
AAP members have been continuously following this up for the last six months and have been urging the officials concerned. But with no affirmative action forthcoming, the party members decided to hold indefinite protest if the committees are not formed within two months.
Incidentally, both the ruling Congress and opposition BJP in the council have assured to set up ward committees in their respective manifestoes.
Alex D’Souza, team leader of AAP unit that met the minister said, “We are just compelling the authorities concerned to implement the order, which has been passed by the Karnataka high court and for which they are showing apparent negligence in the matter.”
AAP district leader, Marcy Pinto, district secretary, Rohan M Shiri, treasurer Rajendran Kumar, members Arun Kumar, Abdulla Latheef , Habeeb, Boja Poojari and others were present.
