A police team headed by Mangalore North Police inspector Vinay A Gaonkar in a four-day period from April 30 has arrested seven persons in connection with the fatal assault on John Pinto, a habitual thief, a department press release here on Tuesday states.

MANGALORE: A police team headed by Mangalore North Police inspector Vinay A Gaonkar in a four-day period from April 30 has arrested seven persons in connection with the fatal assault on John Pinto, a habitual thief, a department press release here on Tuesday states.
Those arrested include Charan Shet (24) of Kudroli, Vikarm (24) of Kudroli, Rajesh (31) of Kotekar Beeri, Deekshith Poojary (22) of Kulshekar, Avinash Shetty (23) of Padil, Shreyas (20) of Barke, and H V Mahendra (20) of Kudroli.

The police team has recovered weapons as well as four two-wheelers used by the accused in carrying out the crime. The accused who were produced before the court have since been remanded to judicial custody.
The accused allegedly fatally assaulted John Pinto in the early hours of April 29 on Mission Ghori Road at Matadakani and had dumped him on the Warehouse Road. A case had been registered in Barke police station.
