2 interstate burglars arrested, property worth Rs 23.7 lakh recovered
Mangaluru: In connection with burglary cases reported within the jurisdiction of the Belthangady Subdivision, police have arrested two interstate burglars and recovered stolen property worth Rs 23.7 lakh.
During the investigation of a case registered at Punjalkatte police station relating to the theft of gold ornaments and cash from a house on April 5, the investigation team arrested Hameed, a native of Kolnadu in Bantwal, and presently residing in Kasaragod, on May 15. The car allegedly used in the crime was also seized, and the accused was produced before a court.
Based on information provided by Hameed during interrogation, police arrested another accused, Jabir alias Jabi,38, also a native of Kolnadu, Bantwal, and presently residing in Kasaragod, on Sunday.
During the investigation, police recovered approximately 68.7g of gold ornaments and Rs 2 lakh in cash in connection with the case registered at Punjalkatte police station. They also recovered 21.8g of gold ornaments linked to a case registered at Uppinangady police station.
The total value of the recovered items is estimated at Rs 23.7 lakh.
Police investigations revealed that the accused were also involved in three other cases registered at Uppinangady police station, Bantwal Town police station and Belthangady police station, taking the total number of cases linked to them to five.
The case was cracked under the supervision of Belthangady Subdivisional DSP Rohini CK. The investigation team comprised Ravi BS, CPI, Belthangady Rural Circle; Nagaraj HE, CPI, Uppinangady and Rajesh KV, PSI, Punjalkatte police station, along with other police personnel.
