2 die after tanker and car collide

Mangaluru: Two people, including an ayurveda practitioner, were killed in a head-on collision between a car and a tanker at Bedrodi, in Puttur traffic police station limits on Sunday morning.
Police said the victims are Dr Jaini Shaji, 43, and Jithin, 27. Shaini Shaji, who is grievously injured, is being treated at a private hospital in Mangaluru. The victims were residents of Nelyadi.
The incident took place around 6.45am, when a tanker plying towards Kolar from Mangaluru met with a head-on collision with a multi-utility vehicle with the three victims in it, who were going towards Uppinangady from Nelyadi.Locals removed the victims from the car and rushed them to a nearby hospital. Police said Jaini and Jithin were declared brought dead to hospital. Police have seized the tanker.
