According to Santosh’s mother, Vasanthi, he received a phone call in the morning and left home.
There was no word from him ever since, Vasanthi said and claimed that he was picked up by the police.
Police sources said that he was detained for interrogation.
Villagers in Pandarampatti gathered on the street protesting the continuous detention of anti-Sterlite protesters by the police and alleged that the arrests are being made ahead of chief minister’s visit to the industrial town.
“My son is detained for raising his voice against Sterlite. Even our chief minister and other leaders are giving statements against Sterlite. Will police act against them too?” asked Santosh’s mother.
