Tuticorin man hacked to death by co-brother over extramarital affair

TUTICORIN: A 27-year-old man, who developed an

extramarital affair

with his wife’s sister, was hacked to death by her husband and three of his accomplices at KTC Nagar in

Tuticorin

district on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Prem Kumar, an autorickshaw driver. He and the prime accused, Vigneswaran, 28, who is a fruit vendor, were married to siblings.

Prem Kumar, who resides at K T C Nagar, developed an affair with Vigneswaran’s wife, who is the elder sister.

Inquiries revealed that a few days ago, Prem invited Vigneshwar's wife to his house and Vigneswaran came to know about it. On Tuesday night, Vigneswaran, his brother, and two others met Prem at K T C Nagar, where an argument broke out between them. Vigneswaran attacked Prem with a machete.

Prem tried to run away, the gang chased and murdered him.

The body was sent to the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital for postmortem.

“The victim suffered more than 10 injuries including many on his head. He died on the spot,” superintendent of police of Tuticorin district S Jayakumar said.

Police registered a case, and further investigations were on.
