TNUHDB plants 300 saplings

Madurai: As a part of the Kalaignar centenary birth anniversary celebration, the community development wing of Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) has planted 300 saplings in three of its apartment complexes in the district. The board has also decided to give scholarships to eligible school students among the residents in the complexes.
Officials said the corporation has planted 100 saplings each at Rajakoor, Therku Theru apartment complexes in Melur and the complex in Karuthapuliampatti.
The board also recently took up mass cleaning programmes at Ellis Nagar, Aruppukottai Road, Rajakoor Periyar Nagar complexes.
A senior TNUHDB officer said there are plans to conduct skill development camps for youngsters, medical camps at the complexes. “As of now 100 children are given scholarships in Chennai, it will be implemented Madurai too.”
