Three killed in separate road accidents in Madurai

MADURAI: Three people, including a couple were killed in separate road accidents in the city on Sunday night. In one of the accidents, a

(TNSTC) bus mowed down a two-wheeler on New Natham Main Road, resulting in the death of a couple.


The TNSTC driver, P Ganesan, 39, of Chellampatti had driven the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and hit the two-wheeler from behind, police said. The occupants of the bike, K Mohammed Ghani, 51, and his wife, Parveen Banu, 49, were thrown off the vehicle and suffered head injuries. Ghani was working in a jewellery workshop in Gandhi Nagar, police said.

In another incident, R Muthukumar, 21, of Sellur was killed after a load truck mowed his two-wheeler near Tallakulam. The youth’s head was crushed and he died on the spot, police said. Muthukumar, a school dropout was working in a wholesale fruit shop.

The incident happened around 11 30pm on Sunday. Police have booked the truck driver, C Alagumurugan under Sections including 304 A of

Indian Penal Code

(causing death due to negligent driving).
