MADURAI: Three persons, including a minor, from Tirunelveli, were arrested at Madurai railway junction on Sunday and as much as 8 Kg of ganja was seized, which was being reportedly smuggled from West Bengal by train.

According to sources, a GRP police special team was conducting checks onboard the Purulia - Tirunelveli super fast express train no. 22605, when it was moving from Dindigul to Madurai.

At that time, the police rounded up three suspects who were travelling without tickets and seized 8 Kg of ganja from them.

The three accused were identified as Ajith Kumar, David Raja, and a 17-year-old boy, all from Tirunelveli. They claimed to have been travelling from Bishnupur to Virudhunagar.

The GRP police arrested all three accused at Madurai railway station and were investigating further.
