‘Thirukkural couplets on milk sachets soon’
Madurai: If all goes well, Aavin milk packets will have Thirukkural couplets printed on them in 15 days. Minister for dairy development and milk products K T Rajendra Bhalaji on Thursday said that he will have to get the chief minister’s permission to implement the demand put forth by the BJP to print Thirukkural on milk packets. While speaking to reporters in Virudhunagar, he said the BJP had only voiced the demand of the people of the state.
“Why should we deny a request from the party that is in power at the Centre when there is logic in their demand,” he said.
Speaking on the alliance, Bhalaji said that the chief minister has said that the existing alliance would continue and that the party stood by him.
He added that nobody from the AIADMK would attempt to erect banners illegally.
Replying to queries on the recent comments made against Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the minister said that the party held no grudge against them and were only replying to comments made by the two.
He added that the chief minister’s comments about actor Sivaji Ganesan was distorted and misinterpreted. The chief minister only said that Sivaji had started a movement and failed in the attempt. “We don’t speak ill of any leader. It was the AIADMK which installed a statue for Shivaji Ganesan and also helped in building a mani mandapam for the late actor,” he added. Rajendra Bhalalji said that the chief minister would lay the foundation stone for a medical college in Virudhunagar in two months.
