Tanker partners with Madurai corpn, GRH to set up dialysis unit
Madurai: Tamilnad Kidney Research (Tanker) Foundation entered into an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Madurai Municipal Corporation and Govt Rajaji Hospital (GRH) on Tuesday, to set up a dialysis centre at the Ansari Nagar urban primary health centre (UPHC) in Madurai. The unit is expected to start functioning within six to eight weeks.Under the partnership, the Madurai corporation and GRH are to provide necessary infrastructure and equipment, while Tanker Foundation will run and oversee the dialysis services, providing technicians to run the dialysis units.Once launched, the centre is expected to support hundreds of economically disadvantaged patients in and around Madurai by offering essential dialysis treatment, said managing trustee of Tanker, Latha Kumaraswami.Dr Sreegothai Chockkalingam, chief medical officer/city APM of Madurai corporation, and Dr Georgi Abraham, founder trustee of Tanker, signed the MoU in the presence of Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, state minister for information technology and digital services.
