SSI, relatives attacked over land dispute

Madurai: A special sub-inspector of police and his family members came under attack in front of a police team over a land dispute in Ayyalur village in Dindigul district on Sunday.
SSI Kumaravel is deployed in the Armed Reserve, while his wife Packiam is also an SSI. The couple has three daughters. Kumaravel owns an ancestral property of 1 acre of land in Ayyalur, and the neighboring plot of 40 cents is owned by Vengayi from Ayyalur.
There was a dispute between Kumaravel and Vengayi regarding the measurement of the land, and the court ruled in favor of Kumaravel.However, Vengayi and her relatives were not allowing Kumaravel to measure the land and install border stones. They used to remove the border stones, after which Kumaravel filed a complaint at the SP office.
Based on his complaint, Vadamadurai police were directed to provide police protection to Kumaravel and the surveyors to measure the land. As the surveyors commenced their work on Sunday morning, Vengayi came with her relatives and started attacking Kumaravel and his family members. Kumaravel and his relative Poochammal were taken to Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital. Vadamadurai police booked Vengayi and her relatives.TNN
