Spurned college boy attacks 14-year-old school girl with knife

MADURAI: A college student attacked a schoolgirl after she refused to reciprocate his love near Andipatti in Theni district. The incident happened on Tuesday night when the girl was returning home from tuitions. Police are on the lookout for the assailant.
The 14 year-old girl, a Class 10 student at a government school in Andipatti, suffered cut injuries on her neck after the accused, P Naveenkumar from T Rajagopalanpatti, attacked her with a small knife.According to police sources, Naveenkumar was infactuated with the girl and had been stalking her but she refused to reciprocate.
On Tuesday night, Naveenkumar intercepted the girl as she was returning home from her tuitions. An altercation erupted during which he attacked the girl with a knife. Upon hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and found the girl with cut injuries on her neck. She was rushed to Theni Government College Hospital for treatment. Police said that the injury was not lethal and her condition is stable. Based on a complaint from the girl, Andipatti police has booked case against Naveenkumar and are on the lookout for him.
