Madurai: Seven functionaries of the Tamil Nadu Towheed Jamath (

TNTJ

) moved the Madras high court seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered against them for organising a protest condemning the Karnataka high court verdict on hijab ban in Ramanathapuram district, and allegedly threatening the judges who delivered the verdict.

and Althaf Usain who are apprehending arrest in a case registered by the Thiruvadanai police.
On March 16, the petitioners sought permission from the police to stage a protest against the hijab ban verdict. However, police had denied permission. Despite denial of permission, the TNTJ members including the petitioners staged a protest on March 18. During the protest, one of the functionaries allegedly made a speech threatening the judges who delivered the verdict. A case was registered against the petitioners and others, based on the complaint lodged by the sub-inspector of police Ganesan.
